Discover Nevada wild horses

December Monthly Highlights

Volunteer highlight

This month’s volunteer highlight is Elena Sullivan! Elena is a darter on the Virginia Range.  She has been involved in the wild horse issue and on the range management since she moved to Nevada in the summer of 2015. Her neighbor and later fellow teammate, Nancy Killan quickly got her involved with wild horses! Her favorite part of darting is knowing that she’s helping to keep the mares healthy and the wild horses on the range. Elena didn’t grow up with horses, but she through her work with wild horses she’s getting to know an animal she had no experience with before! Thank you for all your hard work, Elena!

Horse Highlight

This months horse highlight is a sneaky little yearling who made this months 20 horse rescue/relocation a little more difficult! This little mare kept trying to drive the other horses away from the trap so they wouldn’t be trapped. She’s a smart one! If she’s not a lead mare now, she will be soon!
