New Dart Guns
AWHC recently purchased two long-range XCaliber darting rifles. We have two darters on the Virginia Range who are currently using these rifles to dart horses who are less approachable within close range. The XCaliber can shoot accurately between 20 and 70 yards. The XCaliber is an excellent tool for darting horses in remote areas where horses have rarely seen humans and are more skittish.
We also use a Daninject air rifle, with the capacity to shoot accurately between 10-35 yards. This is a lightweight, popular rifle that is used by the majority of the darting team.
Although it is used less frequently, we also have a Daninject pistol. This is used for closer range shots as it has a range of about 20 yards.
