Wild Horse Birth Control Program Breaks Records
Last month, the AWHC fertility control program reached an unprecedented milestone, surpassing 3,000 treatments administered to mares in under two years, making it the largest free-roaming horse fertility control program in the world, according to the Science and Conservation Center in Billings, MT. The success of this program rests with the volunteers who dedicate their days ensuring the Virginia Range wild horses stay wild and free.
A huge thank you to the Nevada Department of Agriculture for their support of this program. Director Jennifer Ott joined in the celebratory press release, saying βWe appreciate the high level of commitment from AWHC and their volunteers,β NDA Director Jennifer Ott said. βAWHC is a great partner to our cooperative agreement, and partnerships like this illustrate the success that can occur when two groups come together to solve issues.β
Everyone involved with this program should take great pride in the programβs success. You are all making history for wild horses! Read the whole release here.
