September Happy Tails Rescue

Sadia

In August, Wild Horse Connection received a call regarding a foal that was hit by a car and laying in the street with other horses standing around. Range Manager Corenna Vance called LRTC’s rescue team which mobilized to head to the scene. Upon their arrival, they could not locate the downed horse, so they called the reporting party for more information and got the exact location. She wasn’t there, but they spotted a horse laying down in a nearby field with four horses standing over her. It was a yearling filly who had been hit and she was with four bachelor stallions. She was able to get up with much effort. She had a cut near her eye but no other visible injuries but had a bad limp with a drop in her hip.

The decision was made by the range manager to pick her up to get her to a safe location for a vet check. They were able to finally separate her from the stallions, who did not want to let her go, and get her loaded into the transport trailer and taken to LBL Equine Rescue. The filly, named Sadia, was seen by the vet who wanted to give her a few days to see how she improved. She continued to show signs of swelling and a limp so was then sedated and x-rayed. She has a fracture in a bone near her knee, but it is not displaced and since she is young there is a good chance she will heal and live a full life.

She is a beautiful young girl and everyone is hoping she will heal well and grow into the gorgeous mare she will be one day!
